Well...here I am,one hour after the screening of AVATAR and I think about the years it takes to Cameron to make his project a reality. The advantage of such a long time : a visual performance
(even if some creations would better fit in a video game). The problem of such a long time: emotionnaly,Cameron has already deliver all the stuff in his previous movies. He walks in his own footsteps.I have not seen in Avatar a scene as strong as the death of Lindsay in ABYSS,the rage of Ripley against the queen in ALIENS,the Kyle's sacrifice in Terminator or the passion of Jack and Rose in TITANIC...after the screening,a guy said "beautifull but empty",unfortunately I agree with him.Now it's time for your own opinion.
No CGI here ! Well sorry about that but I have to talk about this end of year cinematographic event .Here in France, AVATAR will be screening on December 16th but I will attend one of the December 15th evening "Avant Premiere". As you can imagine,I don't want to see AVATAR (no miniatures,no special make up,no animation,no matte painting...)...I just want to see the new Cameron's movie. Will I forgive you James ? I will let you know that next tuesday 19.00 US time.
